The Story:
Save the Children is the leading independent organization creating lasting change in the lives of children in need in the United States and around the world. The organization was in the “silent” phase of a 5-year, $400 million capital campaign. However, it did not have the integrated information systems, defined business processes, nor reporting capabilities to support the campaign’s fundraising and financial management needs. In addition, the organization was hampered by a complex set of multiple, and often disjointed, data management tools which resulted in significant data integrity issues including duplicate records, double data entry, out-of-date information, and contradictory data sources.
The Solution: Business Process Improvement & Alignment
Barker & Scott led an effort to reengineer the organization’s Leadership Giving functions including: Corporate, Foundations & Trusts, Grants, Major and Principal Gifts, and Planned Giving. These optimized processes provided the basis for a significant upgrade to their primary fundraising system. In addition, Barker & Scott performed a technical architecture assessment then delivered a set of alternative options and a recommended path forward to best address their information systems integration needs. Both projects provided critical operational pillars needed for the organization to significantly exceed their campaign goal well in advance of the 5-year timeframe.
The Impact
Upon completion of the moves management business model, Barker & Scott helped the organization prioritize its business requirements in order to select and implement a new major gifts fundraising system.
