Special Olympics
“Lisa and Doug guided us through the development of an enterprise CRM strategy for moving our global, grassroots organization toward becoming constituent-centric. Their hands-on experience in and commitment to nonprofit organizations, combined with their expertise in technology, strong business acumen, strategic approach to relationship management, and strong interpersonal skills, made what seemed to be an impossible endeavor quite manageable. They jumped in, became part of our internal team, kept us focused, and were invaluable to us.”
— Joan Wheatley, Vice President of Donor Development
The Story:
Special Olympics serves more than 3 million athletes with intellectual disabilities in over 150 countries. The organization was looking for a wholistic approach at engaging all of their diverse constituent groups.
The Solution: Technology Assessment & Roadmap
The documented strategy and action plan provided a high-level roadmap and foundation for Special Olympics to move towards a more constituent-centric organizational model. A key part of the work included an assessment of all the different types and categories of constituents that are part of the Special Olympics movement and resulted in a Constituent Map that provided a comprehensive view and common definition of the organization’s many different constituent groups. The project also included an assessment and specific recommendations for improvement in the areas of: CRM vision, strategy, the constituent/donor experience, organizational collaboration (culture, skills, incentives, communication), processes, data and analytics, technology, and performance metrics.
The Impact:
Barker & Scott worked closely with a diverse set of stakeholders to develop a Global Strategy for Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) resulting in a Constituent Map that provided a common vision for the many different constituent groups.
